Our Privacy Policy in Brief:
iStartApp apps generally do not ask you for information that directly identifies you for their ordinary functions. If you contact us, use an account feature, or use an app feature that relies on an external service, information may be processed as described in this Policy. Practices vary by app and feature; the JotTheDate section below gives app-specific details.

This Policy explains how information is handled through iStartApp apps and websites. It does not describe Apple's or other independent service providers' own processing; those providers' privacy notices also apply to their services. We may update this Policy by posting a revised version on our website.

1. INFORMATION WE PROCESS
When you contact us through a website form or email, we receive the information you choose to send. The website contact form asks for your name, email address, and the app and version you are asking about; device details and your message may also be provided.
If you use the private Platinum area, the email address associated with your account is used for authentication and kept on our rented web server. Authentication information needed for the account may also be processed.
Apps and websites may process technical or usage information needed to operate, maintain, and secure them. The website uses external analytics services that may receive technical and usage information. Information handled by an app can depend on its features and device permissions; relevant app-specific details appear below.

2. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
We use information you send us to reply to your questions and provide support. We use account information to authenticate access to the private Platinum area. Technical and usage information may be used to operate, maintain, secure, and improve apps and websites, including through external analytics services. We may also use or disclose information when required by law or to protect our services and legal rights.

3. WHEN INFORMATION IS SHARED
Information may be processed by service providers that help operate our websites and apps, such as web hosting, infrastructure, email delivery, cloud, and analytics providers. They receive information needed for the services they provide. Some app features may also use Apple services or other services you select; the relevant app-specific section describes those features.

4. EXTERNAL SERVICES AND LINKS
Apps and websites may link to or work with services operated by others. When you choose to use an external service or follow a link, that provider handles information under its own privacy terms. We do not control independent third-party services or their privacy practices.

5. SHARING THROUGH APP FEATURES
Some app features may let you export or share information using another app or service. The information is sent when you choose that feature, and the receiving app or service may handle it under its own privacy terms.

You can contact us at info@istartapp.com with questions about this Policy or information you have sent us. Device permissions for app features can be managed through the settings provided by your device or operating system; changing a permission may affect the related feature.

7. SECURITY
We use measures intended to protect information handled through our services. No method of transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

8. RETENTION
We keep information for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was provided, or as required by law. For the private Platinum area, the account email is retained on our rented web server while it is needed to authenticate an active account. Retention by an external service provider is governed by that service's practices and is described below where relevant.

9. SERVICE LOCATIONS
Information may be processed in the locations where the relevant service providers operate. Locations and practices can vary by app, feature, and provider; app-specific sections below describe the relevant arrangements where known. Please also review the privacy information provided by the external service you choose to use.

10. APP-SPECIFIC DATA PRACTICES
JotTheDate
JotTheDate accesses Apple Calendar and Reminders through EventKit to display and edit the items you choose. Jots are stored in the active archive, either on your device or in iCloud, according to your choice. Syncing follows the account and service settings you use.
For usage analytics, JotTheDate sends an event to an external analytics service processed in the EU when the app starts and when it returns to the foreground after at least three minutes in the background. The event includes a range for the number of drawings, the active archive type, and an aggregated category for Premium or subscription status. It also includes a session identifier, event time, device model, language, operating system, and app and build versions. The analytics event does not contain drawings, calendar or reminder contents or dates, event titles, calendar identifiers or names, file names, purchase receipts, or purchase amounts. iStartApp does not keep a separate copy of these analytics records.
The service states that it derives a daily rotating identifier using a hash of the IP address and User-Agent, and retains analytics data for up to five years.

Verio
For usage analytics, Verio sends an event to an external analytics service processed in the EU when the app starts and when it returns to the foreground after at least three minutes in the background. The event includes counts of accounts, transactions, categories, and archived years, together with the byte sizes of the current archive and annual archives and the total number of transactions contained in the archives. It also includes a session identifier, event time, device model, language, operating system, and app and build versions. The event does not include account names, transaction descriptions, category names, financial amounts, or transaction dates. iStartApp does not keep a separate copy of these analytics records.
The service states that it derives a daily rotating identifier using a hash of the IP address and User-Agent, and retains analytics data for up to five years.
